BUHARMETOV Rifkat

Rifkat Buharmetov is a Kyrgyz painter who, over the years,
has developed an international following. He was born in 1951 and earned degrees from both
the Kyrgyz State Art College and the Surikov Institute of Art in Moscow. He supplemented
his education with a creative art workshop for painting at the USSR Academy of Art. He is
a member of the Artists' Union of the Kyrgyz Republic. At the "World Contemporary
Art '98" exhibition in Los Angeles, CA (1998), Rifkat was recognized as one of the
"best in show" for his painting "Dream." More recently, he, along with
fellow artist Askar Turumbekov, won the monument and trophy contest to commemorate the
"Art of Silk Road 2002" exhibition in Bishkek (2002).
Rifkat has participated in more than 90 national, union, and international exhibitions.
Over 200 of his works are in museums, galleries, and private collections in Russia, Kyrgyz
Republic, Kazakhstan, USA, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Japan, Israel, and
Malaysia. |
