Besides
being a talented and prolific painter, Jusup Mataev is the designer of the Kyrgyz national
flag. At 46 years old, Jusup has developed his painting style and participated in numerous
national and international exhibitions since his graduation from the Kyrgyz State Art
College in 1978. Just some
of these exhibitions include the 40th anniversary of the Great Patriot War victory in
Bishkek (1985); "Human, Nature, Society" in Moscow, Russia (1992); "Painters of
Kyrgyzstan," which toured Malaysia, Turkey, and France (1997-2001); the 70th
Anniversary of Ch. Aitmatov in Brussels, Belgium (1999); and the "International Festival
of Arts" in Osh, Kyrgyz Republic (2000).
Jusup's works are located
throughout the Kyrgyz Republic in the Kyrgyz State Museum of Fine Art, the Naryn Museum of
Local Folklore, the Naryn Gallery, and the Gertsen Museum in Talas, as well as in private
collections in other CIS countries, Germany, Austria, Japan, USA, Italy, France, Korea,
Canada, and Turkey. He has been a member of the Kyrgyz Painters' Union since 1992. |
