OGOBAEV   Marat

Kyrgyz sculptor Marat Ogobaev was born in 1957. After completing his art studies in Bishkek in 1978, he went on to earn a degree in Sculpture at the Moscow State Institute of Art in 1992. He joined the Artists' Union of the Kyrgyz Republic in 1998.

Throughout the 1990s and into the new century, Marat has been an enthusiastic participant of national and international exhibitions and competitions. He won honorable mention in the "Children of Kyrgyzstan" exhibition (1996) and first prize in the "Soldiers of the Afghan War" monument competition in Bishkek (1998). He also was awarded first place in a competition at Manas International Airport, Bishkek (2000). Marat took part in an international sculpture symposium in China (2001) and the Asian Art Biennale in Bangladesh (2001).
