Saparbay
Osmonaliev is a Kyrgyz painter who is expanding his following beyond the CIS. Born in
1956, Saparbay went on to earn degrees from the Kyrgyz State Art College in 1975 and the
Repin Institute of Architecture, Sculpture, and Painting in St. Petersburg, Russia in
1982. Throughout the 1980s
and 1990s, Saparbay taught at the Kyrgyz State Art College and the Academy of Art while
participating in numerous exhibitions. These included the "40th
Anniversary of the Great Patriotic War Victory" exhibition in Moscow (1985),
international exhibitions in Poland and Saint Petersburg (1988 and 1995), and various
regional exhibitions held in Bishkek.
More recently, Saparbay has
displayed his works in solo exhibitions at the Dali Gallery in Ankara, Turkey (2000) and
in Bishkek to celebrate the 120th anniversary of Ataturk (2001). He also
participated in an international exhibition in Tehran, Iran (2000); "Painters of
Kyrgyzstan" in France (2001); and the 10th anniversary celebration of
Kyrgyz independence in Bishkek (2001). |
